| Sharon Jordan Bahosh’s art career
spans nearly three decades. In succession, since beginning as a young entrepreneur
in the 70’s she has earned regional and national recognition in receiving
forty awards. She has appeared in publications such as Artists of New England,
and Arts Around Boston. She produced cover art and illustrations for various
trade and sporting magazines, for products of reproduction and for greeting
cards. Her paintings are collected by church, corporate, public office and
institutions and people of every walk of life both in the US and abroad.
Sharon has exhibited widely in museum, gallery and outdoor venues and is
included in many art organizations.
For Sharon her work is a passion that inspires excitement and challenge. Paintings are more than a picture; they are an interpretation, an emotional response to the subject. The viewer then responds with feelings of his own thus creating a circle of life. Lively plein air paintings done outdoors are one way this artist creates life. Location paintings include seaside destinations like Rocky Neck in Gloucester, on vacation in the Smoky Mountains, and especially around her home town rural Lancaster. Sharon’s work then takes her back to her studio in late autumn to paint a world of indoor emotions. Working from still life, her work becomes a little more methodical but with the same intensity. The results are more traditional. Her work changes with the seasons sometimes bringing out the watercolor to create crisp florals in the depths of winter. She enjoys illustrating fine architecture or commissions of people’s homes exercising her keen drawing abilities in watercolor. Other focuses include Sacred Art, wildlife, and snow scenes from outside the window of her north light professional studio. Sharon’s spontaneous spirited portraits are her greatest accomplishment.
“To capture a likeness and recreate the nuances of face and personality
is a gift, my cup runneth over.” There are two styles to Sharon’s
portraitures; one already mentioned, the spontaneous and one more traditional,
polished in depth. They are equally rewarding. |
